i may have heard a few snipets here and there over the years, but last night i finally heard a few sets of mitch hedberg and i just love his stand up. this of course prompted ross and i to look at his wikipedia page…. and he died on my birthday. just sad to think he’s not going to make any more jokes again. i’ve also taken to reading his wife lynn’s blog. it seems she misses him every day. i feel for her.
to tell you all about ross’ birthday party. it was totally boss.
i totally hit a new high score on my ipod tetris: 238,551.
level 11!
i totally just bought two tickets to paradise-i mean justin timberlake. now to wait until september 12th.
!!!
this morning i dreamt i was hanging out with michael hutchence on a beach with two other australians, a guy who kept calling me “love” and a blonde girl who was apparently my best friend. michael was charming, and fun, and we traipsed around the beach in loose cotton clothing over our swimsuits and drank cocktails. i woke up genuinely saddened that michael wasn’t alive, even though he died in 1997.

we saw the new robert rodriguez/quentin tarantino double feature on opening night with some good friends. my vote: r. rodriguez’s film = thumbs way up. campy, gorey but didn’t make me retch, all around good fun. the fake trailers in between = YES! especially the one by eli roth, oh and the one by the shaun of the dead guy. [DON'T! ha!] q.t.’s film, however, gets a big fat booooo. same old too much talking, gun toting, obscure musical references, potty-mouthed black girls that you’ve come to expect in all of his films. at that point you’re two hours in and you should probably just call it a night. i did like kurt russell in it, though. he’s fantastic.
overall rating: 4 out of 5 Ns.
seeing how my birthday is march 29th, falling this year on a thursday, r and i decided to have my party on saturday the 24th. what a blast we had! it was our first real party since we’d moved into our apartment [january 2006] and r really pulled out all the stops. he did a costco run for beverages, plates, cups, etc, and drove all the way down to san jose to visit our friends at good karma [you may remember the delicious food prepared by good karma for our wedding in october] and brought back various flavors of hummus, egg rolls, and a spicy tofu curry. delish times ten!
we had a moment of panic about 10 minutes after the party was scheduled to start, and not one guest in sight. doesn’t every host have a slight freak out after all the shopping, the lighting of candles, the music turned on, where you think oh my god no one is going to show up! or if they do it will be only 3 people who will awkwardly leave after 30 minutes because no one else came? fortunately by 8:30 the sarkis sisters and their men showed up, and everyone else soon followed. so many people brought extra drinks, sweet treats, and even gifts! i hadn’t even factored in that people might bring me something to actually celebrate the anniversary of my birth. the fact that so many showed up was fabulous enough, the gifts were the figurative icing on the [vegan] cake.
speaking of which… i think everyone must know i love chocolate.
there is so much left over i just might gain ten pounds in the next week.
thank you so much to everyone who came. it was a smashing success.

goodness! here i am with my very own little slice of the world wide web. i’ve decided to embark upon my own site for the very simple reason of keeping friends and family updated on my adventures, the day-to-day goodies, and the occasional music/movie/concert review. i’ll be adding photos from my lovely flickr account as well. give me a few days and i’ll update you with all my recent birthday shenanigans.
